New traveling cable is slow, disruptive and expensive

Adding a camera to an elevator usually means running new traveling cable, which takes the car out of service and disrupts tenants. VideoComm estimates that new or replacement traveling cable can cost two to four times as much as a wireless system. A wireless link carries the video instead, and the elevator is usually back in service the same day.

Why building owners choose wireless

  • Any height

Running in buildings of 200 floors or more, and in mine elevators that travel up to one mile underground.

  • No interference

802.11a/n wireless at 5.8 GHz with a purpose-built antenna setup: elevator motors and cables do not disturb the signal.

  • Fast installation

No new cable down the shaft, so installation is quick with minimal disruption for tenants.

  • Works with your system

Compatible with network IP cameras and video recorders (NVRs) you may already use.

  • More than video

The same link can carry two-way emergency audio, access control, in-car displays and IoT sensors.

  • Built to last

Rugged hardware with a 3-year parts and labor warranty and a 100% wireless performance guarantee.

How it works

  1. 1

    In the car

Your IP camera connects to a compact wireless transmitter mounted on the elevator car.

  2. 2

    In the shaft

A matching receiver picks up the signal, whatever the car's height or speed.

  3. 3

    On your screens

Live HD video reaches your recorder, security desk, phone or tablet in real time.
